As busy women, we often forget to make ourselves a priority. The key to good emotion regulation lies in making sure we do a list of things including get exercise. We also need to learn and become proficient in new skills. It is important for women to build a sense of self confidence, physical fitness, and build connections outside of our immediate family and coworkers. Enter the 10 reasons women should CrossFit.
Exercise for Women
For years women have believed that the key to good physical fitness was continuous cardio. Unfortunately, cardio isn’t enough. Women believed that strength training would cause them to bulk up when in fact that is not the case. In order to bulk up you would need to consume a diet that consists of large amounts of protein and healthy fats in order to bulk.
10 Reasons Women Should CrossFit
1.Sense of community
When we were kids we were constantly surrounded by friends and found plenty of opportunities to socialize. As we get older it becomes harder to balance the demands of a busy life with being party of a group or community. We often find our social circle consists of our coworkers and family.
In my opinion one of the top 10 Reasons should should CrossFit is the community. Each “box” has its own dynamic and community. Your partners in crime will hold you accountable and sweat alongside you. I like to compare it to being on a track team. You practice together as a team but then you compete individually to improve.
2.Guided and Purposeful Workout Plans
So one of the most difficult things about working out is knowing how to program your workouts to see improvements.As a busy woman, you will find the pressure is taken off when someone else provides the structure. Repetitive workouts eventually become easy and no longer facilitate improvement.
While each “box” is different, a good CrossFit coach will program the workouts with both the short and long term goals in mind. They will strategically work certain areas of your routine and have constantly varying movements to keep your body guessing.
3. Build Muscle – changes body composition
Muscle weighs more than fat. It also much more compact. The more muscle you have the more efficient your body is at processing energy.
Want to be able to chase your toddler around or keep up at your company softball game? Allow your body to become better at converting your food to energy.
With increased muscle mass you are protecting your body by surrounding ligaments, bones, and organs with strong and stable walls.
4. Scaled Workouts
You don’t have to be a superstar or an already active person to start CrossFit. All ages and fitness levels can see benefits from starting a CrossFit routine. It doesn’t matter if you’re super mom who runs marathons or if you’ve become a stagnant sitting behind a desk.
Having someone who constantly can push you or provide insight to improve your techniques throughout various exercises is invaluable. No matter what your goal is, a coach can help you make adjustments that you would never know to make on your own.
